Denise Richards Biography

Denise Lee Richards was born in Downers Grove, Illinois to Joni, a coffee shop owner, and Irv Richards, a telephone engineer, and she has one sister, named Michelle. She graduated from El Camino High School in 1989, Oceanside, California, where she was a cheerleader.

Career

Before she was an actress, Denise was a fashion model. Richards spent the majority of the 1990s appearing in lower-budget films and TV shows like Saved by the Bell, television movies, and guest starring in episodes of several television shows. Her first starring role in a wide theatrical release was Starship Troopers in 1997, which was followed by her role in the moderately successful cult film Wild Things in 1998. Richards was subsequently cast as Dr. Christmas Jones in the James Bond film The World Is Not Enough (1999), which had a high box office gross and contributed to Richards' renown. In addition to her film work, Richards has made regular appearances in the situation comedies Spin City, Two and a Half Men, Friends and Seinfeld. She also starred in the short-lived UPN series Sex, Love & Secrets in 2005. Throughout the early 2000s, Richards appeared in several film roles which both parodied and utilized her image as a sex symbol, including Valentine, Undercover Brother, Scary Movie 3 and Love Actually. In December 2004, she posed for a nude pictorial in Playboy magazine. Richards also posed semi-nude for the July 2006 issue of Jane magazine to raise money for the Clothes Off Our Back Foundation. In 1999 she ranked 9 in Maxim's 50 Sexiest Women and in 2001 she was voted 2nd in FHM's USA 100 Sexiest Women, 5th in FHM 100 Sexiest Women and 19 in AskMen.com 50 Most Beautiful Women.

Personal Life

Richards once dated actor Patrick Muldoon. In 2002, she married actor Charlie Sheen, with whom she appeared in Scary Movie 3, in which she played his character's dying wife. The couple have two daughters: Sam J, who was born on March 9, 2004, and Lola Rose, who was born on June 1, 2005. Richards was named the Sexiest Mom of 2005 by In Touch Weekly magazine.

In March 2005, Richards first filed for divorce from Sheen. The couple briefly reconciled and were seeking marriage counseling to mend their relationship. However, on January 4, 2006, Richards' representative announced that she was continuing with the divorce, and she later sought a restraining order against Sheen, citing his alleged death threats against her. She has also been linked to actor John Stamos, whom she dated during her teenage years.

On April 19, 2006, Richards filed formal legal papers asking for divorce from Sheen under the laws of the state of California. In her 17-page court filing (not counting additional supporting evidentiary documents), Richards alleged that Sheen's behavior was increasingly erratic, making their marriage impossible, and that she feared for her safety and the safety of their two daughters: Sam J. and Lola Rose.

Debbie Gibson Biography

Debbie Gibson became a pop phenomenon in the late '80s, scoring a string of hit singles when she was only 17. Although she was still a teenager, Gibson showed signs of being a talented pop craftsman, capable of making catchy dance-pop in the style of Madonna, as well as lush, orchestrated ballads. Gibson's time at the top of the charts was brief, but it was quite successful, producing five Top Ten singles, including two number ones, and two multi-platinum albums.
  • Gibson began writing songs in her early childhood, taking piano lessons from Morton Estrin (who also taught Billy Joel) from the age of five. At the age of six she wrote "Make Sure You Know Your Classroom," but it was "I Come From America," which she wrote at age 12, that earned wide recognition for her talents. "I Come From America" won 1,000 dollars in a songwriting contest, prompting her parents to sign a management contract with Doug Breithart. Breithart helped Gibson learn several instruments, as well as teaching her how to arrange, engineer, and produce records; she would record over 100 of her own songs by 1985.

While she was still in high school, Debbie Gibson signed with Atlantic Records and began recording her debut album with producer Fred Zarr. "Only in My Dreams," her debut single, climbed to number four when it was released in the summer of 1987. It was followed in the fall by the dance-oriented "Shake Your Love," which also peaked at number four; the single also became a hit in Britain, reaching number seven. Out of the Blue, her debut album, was released in the fall of 1987, and by the spring of 1988, it had reached the American Top Ten. The title track became a number-three hit that spring and it was followed by her first number one single, "Foolish Beat," making her the youngest artist ever to write, perform, and produce a number one single. Following the success of "Foolish Beat," Gibson graduated from Calhoun High School in Merrick, NY, with honors. "Staying Together," released in the fall of 1988, didn't perform as well as her previous four singles, stalling at number 22. By the end of 1988, Out of the Blue had gone triple platinum in the U.S.

"Lost in Your Eyes," the first single from her second album, Electric Youth, became Gibson's biggest hit early in 1989, staying at number one for three weeks. Electric Youth, released in the spring of 1989, also hit number one, spending five weeks at the top of the charts. However, her popularity began to slip by the end of the year -- "Electric Youth" just missed the Top Ten and her next two singles did progressively worse, with "We Could Be Together" unable to climb past number 71. At the end of 1990, she released her third album, Anything Is Possible; it peaked at number 41. Two years later, she released Body Mind Soul, which produced only one minor hit single, "Losin' Myself." After its release, she starred in a production of Les Miserables. Gibson returned to pop music in 1995, recording a duet of the Soft Boys' "I Wanna Destroy You" with the Los Angeles punk band the Circle Jerks and releasing a considerably softer album of her own, Think With Your Heart, which marked a departure from the dance-pop that made her famous. What You Want was released in fall 2000. M.Y.O.B. followed in early 2001, and Colored Lights: The Broadway Album two years later. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide

Diane Kruger Biography

Born Diane Heidkruger in Hildesheim, Germany, Diane Kruger initially aspired to be a dancer and studied with the Royal Ballet in London.

When an injury ended her hopes for a dancing career, she began modeling in Germany, where she became a finalist of the Look of the Year contest at the age of 15. She worked with renowned fashion designers Dolce & Gabbana, and her pictures graced the covers of magazines like Vogue and Elle.

Moving to Paris on the advice of film director Luc Besson, Kruger decided to take up acting and enrolled in the Ecole Florent, where she became top of her class in 2002. The same year, the actress made her big-screen debut opposite Dennis Hopper and Christopher Lambert in the indie feature The Piano Player (aka The Target), but she was not truly revealed until her role in Mon Idole, co-starring and directed by her real-life companion Guillaume Canet. After a couple more acting assignments in France.

Kruger began her Hollywood career by acting alongside Josh Hartnett and Rose Byrne in Wicker Park, a remake of the 1996 French film L'Appartement. While still filming Wicker Park in 2003,.

she was selected among many other candidates to play the legendary beauty Helen of Troy in Wolfgang Petersen's historical epic Troy (2004). The latter film ended up being released before Wicker Park, thus becoming her high-profile introduction to the American public.

Kruger made her film debut in “The Piano Player” (2002), starring Christopher Lambert and Dennis Hopper, and directed by Jean-Pierre Roux. The movie never saw a theatrical release, but did manage to find itself on video store shelves. Kruger then starred in “Mon Idole” (2002), helmed by her husband, French director Guillaume Canet (“The Beach”).

In the black comedy about a Jerry Springer-like talk show host, Kruger played Clara, the wife of the show’s producer who gets romantically involved with the host. Kruger then appeared in “Ni Pour Ni Contra” (“Not For or Against”, 2003), directed by NYU grad Cedric Klapisch. Next Kruger had a starring role in “Michel Vaillant” (2003), a live-action take on a popular French comic strip from the 1950’s.

It wasn’t until being cast in “Troy” that Kruger got an opportunity to be exposed to American audiences. Though she was unknown to Hollywood, director Wolfgang Petersen knew that Kruger would be able to pull off the role. “Diane is not only a stunning beauty but a gifted actress with tremendous depth and presence,” he was quoted at the time she was cast.

Petersen saw in her an ethereal, slightly melancholy quality that none of the other actresses possessed, which was perfect for her character, Helena, who is married off against her wishes to Menelaus, the king of Sparta, and spends much of her time brooding and weeping. At the time of the film’s release, Kruger was fast becoming a hot commodity.

She was quickly signed to several new projects, including the steamy thriller “Wicker Park” (2004), a remake of the 1996 French film “L’Appartement,” opposite Josh Hartnett and her "Troy" co-star Rose Byrne; and “National Treasure” (2004), co-starring Nicolas Cage and Harvey Keitel. In a few short months, Kruger went from virtual unknown to the industry’s most sought-after actress.

Daryl Hannah Biography

Daryl Christine Hannah was born December 3rd, 1960, in Chicago, Illinois. As a child, she was diagnosed as almost autistic. According to her sister, actress Page Hannah, Daryl was a "very private, rather dreamy person with a "Please Knock" sign on the door and parakeets and hamsters running loose inside."

Daryl has suffered from insomnia since a very early age, which encouraged her to escape into the world of movies as a young girl.

Her parents divorced when she was in the first grade. After they remarried, Daryl was eventually one of eight children (including half-siblings and step-siblings), consisting of seven girls and a brother, Don. Her uncle, Haskell Wexler, was a filmmaker who won two Oscars for his work as a cinematographer.

In high school, Daryl p
layed soccer on the boys' team because there was no soccer team for girls. Before deciding to pursue acting, she practiced ballet with Maria Tallchief. She then switched to drama, studying at Chicago's Goodman Theater.

Hannah made her screen debut in the 1978 Brian De Palma thriller The Fury, when she was just 17. It was only a small part, but it gave her the incentive to further her dramatic training. She studied with Stella Adler and graduated from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles.

Following her graduation, she played Kim Basinger's younger sister in 1981's Hard Country. In 1982, she co-starred in Summer Lovers, but it was another film from the same year that made audiences sit up and take notice of the young actress. As Pris, the seductive, pleasure-model "replicant" in Ridley Scott's futuristic detective story Blade Runner, Hannah was perfectly cast as the statuesque, sexy android.

Also in 1982, Daryl began a ten-year, on-again, off-again relationship with singer/songwriter Jackson Browne. During this period, she occasionally played keyboards and sang backup w
ith his band in the studio and on stage.

If people took notice of her for her supporting role as Pris, then it's fair to say that her next role made her a star. Appearing opposite Tom Hanks in Ron Howard's 1984 romantic comedy Splash, Hannah demonstrated her versatility and comedic flair as Madison the mermaid.

Appearances in some more films that year solidified her status as a rising new talent: She played a student who gets involved with a motorcycle riding loner in Reckless, and Mickey Rourke's girlfriend in The Pope of Greenwich Village. Further pointing to her potential as a rising actress, Hannah was selected as one of 12 "Promising New Actors of 1984" in John Willis' Screen World.

Despite her sudden popularity and acclaim, Hannah's next few film appearances didn't ignite audiences or critics alike. In 1986's The Clan of the Cave Bear, she portrayed a Cro-Magnon cavegirl, but few people actually saw the film. She followed this up by playing a performance artist in the comedy Legal Eagles, co-starring Robert Redford, and then as an interior designer in Oliver Stone's 1987's critically-acclaimed Wall Street.

Many critics felt that her best performance since Splash came when she portrayed the title role in the 1987 romantic comedy Roxanne, starring Steve Martinin a contemporary retelling of Cyrano de Bergerac. The following year she was featured alongside acting legend Peter O'toolein High Spirits, where she played a lonely ghost.

Hannah was teamed with some big-name actresses in 1989's Steel Magnolias and was highly praised for her portrayal of a Southern hairdresser. She also got to work with Woody Allen that same year, appearing in Crimes and Misdemeanors.

1989 was also the year Daryl Hannah made headlines regarding her new love interest. She began a serious relationship with John F. Kennedy, Jr., whom she dated on and off until 1994. The couple never wed, allegedly due to Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis' disapproval of her son marrying an actress.

Hannah next portrayed a fragile mental patient in the 1990 black comedy Crazy People. In 1991's At Play in the Fields of the Lord, she played a missionary's wife. She returned to comedy, as Chevy Chase's mixed-up love interest in 1992's Memoirs of an Invisible Man.

Daryl Hannah's next project was a giant achievement for the actress (literally); she co-produced and starred in the title role of the made-for-TV film Attack of the 50 Ft. Woman in 1993. She also played Jack Lemmon's daughter in Grumpy Old Men that same year.

The following year, she was honored at the Berlin International Film Festival. Hannah wrote, produced and directed The Last Supper, and received the Jury Award for Best Short. She revised her role as Jack Lemmon's daughter in the sequel Grumpier Old Men and co-starred in the drama The Ties That Bind, both in 1995.

Daryl Hannah played an adult film actress trying to break into legitimate films in 1997's The Last Days of Frankie the Fly, co-starring Dennis Hopper and Kiefer Sutherland In Robert Altman's The Gingerbread Man, she was given the opportunity to really act again, portraying a mentally off-center housewife.

Hannah learned the art of the striptease for her role in 2000's Dancing at the Blue Iguana. She demonstrated her pole-dancing skills on The Tonight Show, but hasn't yet joined the growing list of Hollywood ladies who've installed a stripping pole in their homes.

In the fall of 2000, Hannah conquered her lifelong fear of the live stage when she starred in the London production of The Seven Year Itch. She reprised Marilyn Monroe's part from the 1955 film of the same name, receiving mixed reviews from critics.

More roles in smaller, indie films followed, including Jackpot and Ring of Fire in 2001, and Run for the Money in 2002. She recently portrayed Shane West's mother in the teen flick A Walk to Remember starring Mandy Mooreand will next be seen in Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill.

After her highly publicized romance with John F. Kennedy, Jr., Daryl Hannah has been romantically linked with her Run for the Money castmate Val Kilmerand magician David Blaine
