Bio of Agnes Monica, written by Agnezone:

3.14 in the morning

and I have this question in my mind

Who is Agnes Monica ?

An actress?

A singer?

A dancer?

Well, when the Agmonz group wanted to make a fan site for Agnes Monica , I really get excited with that idea (For you who ask why am I excited, the answer is because I’m a big fans of her. Now you can see the connection J ). For sure, I really don’t know what comes through my mind that time which make my hand typed “ Let me be the one who write about her biography, please” I even typed the word “please” 3 times as I remembered. In addition that time I didn’t think that this job will become a very hard work to me. Now, don’t dare to ask me whether it is a hard work or not because I will say loudly to you “ Yep, it’s very hard ” but when you ask me am I feel sorry because I chose the biography section and not the other I will answer it “ No ” although its hard but I feel really proud because I can share my opinion about Agnes with all of you.

Hm . . enough introduction for me and get back to the question. After thinking the answer for about 2 days, I finally get the answer. The answer is short and simple. She is a phenomenon.

Why is she a phenomenon?

Ok, don’t blame me for saying that she is a phenomenon. Because I can give you a lot of reason for that. Let me take you to a little journey to her early career until she is now. some say that she is controversial. Some say that she is arogant. But, oh well we all know that she is ” something ” in Indonesia Music Industry. In my point of view when you decide to become an entertainer then you have to do it righly in other words dont end up become someone that no one will remember. Agnes Monica always brought a big controversy whether its about her fashion, her songs and even her hairstyle. But the controversy make her unforgetable.

Faye Wong Biography

王菲 (Faye Wong), also known as 王靖雯. Born August 8, 1969 in Beijing, China, is a popular singer in Asia, especially mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, and more recently in Japan and to some extent in the West.

She is believed by critics and fans alike to be one of the most commercially and artistically distinguished singers in Chinese pop music history, with a following so large and devoted that media in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and mainland China often place the title tiānhòu, (天后; diva or goddess) before her name, while Japanese fans call her “Diva of Asia”. Shy, intensely private, and unsocial, she is one of the very few people widely popular on both sides of the Taiwan straits despite her aggressive avoidance of the media. Not only admired openly by well-known celebrities around the world (most likely Asian ones), she was also labeled as the gay icon among the gay community.

According to The Guinness Book of Records she sold 9.7 millons copies of all her albums as of March 2000.

She has acted in several TV shows and films, most memorably in Wong Kar-wai’s Chungking Express, a role that garnered her international acclaim. She also won the award for “Best Actress” at the 1994 Stockholm Film Festival. Her most recent movie, 2046, she stars as an android and one of Tony Leung’s love interests.

She is known not only to many Final Fantasy fans from her famous song “Eyes On Me”, which was used in the game Final Fantasy VIII and in its promotional campaign in 1998, but also as one of the faces of such brand advertisements as Head & Shoulders shampoo and Pepsi-Cola.

Faye Wong also sung a cover of the theme song for the well-acclaimed blockbuster film Hero, and the song is available on the movie’s sound track.

She was previously married to Dou Wei, and had one daughter with him. She is now married to mainland actor Li Ya-Peng, and recently had another daughter with him.

Musical career

Born in Beijing, People’s Republic of China, she was originally named Xia Lin (Chinese: 夏琳; pinyin: Xià Lín), adopting her mother’s maiden name because the Wang family was persecuted during the Cultural Revolution (her grandfather was a Republic of China congressman when it governed the mainland). At the age of 15, several years after the turmoil ended, her name was changed to Wang Fei (王菲). She inherited a talent for music from her mother, who was a soprano, and recorded several low-cost albums in high school covering the songs of Teresa Teng, her personal idol.

Modest beginnings

In 1987, she moved with her family to Hong Kong and began her musical career after a brief stint as a model, sometimes using the stage name “Miss Charm”. She signed a contract with Cinepoly and released three albums under the stage name Shirley Wong (Chinese: 王靖雯; pinyin: Wáng Jìng Wén, Cantonese: Wong Ching Man). Containing a large number of covers of songs by artists from the US and Japan, these albums attracted little attention and a lukewarm response from critics. Frustrated with her career direction, she decided to take some time off in 1991 and travel to New York for vocal studies and cultural exchange. This brief hiatus would prove to be important for her artistic development.

During her absence, Cinepoly released a few compilations repackaging songs from her three albums, thereby keeping her somewhat visible at the record stores.

A year after returning to Hong Kong, she burst into the spotlight with her 1992 album Coming Home, which incorporated R&B influences like her previous two and was a drastic change in musical direction from the more traditional Cantopop fare of her earlier albums. On this album, she covered the song “Fragile Woman,” originally sung by the Japanese music diva Miyuki Nakajima. While this song had been covered by other Chinese singers, her angelic version nonetheless swept over Hong Kong and single-handedly lifted her to superstardom. The album also included her first English-language song, “Kisses in the Wind”; she is on record as stating that this is her personal favourite song. In 1992-93 she also starred in TVB shows such as Files of Justice II (壹號皇庭II) and Legendary Ranger (原振俠).

For Coming Home and all subsequent releases, she changed her stage name back to her original name “Wong Fei” (王菲). Not satisfied to rest on her laurels, she wrote the Mandarin lyrics for the ballad “No Regrets” (執迷不悔) in 1993, which led many people to praise her not just as a talented singer but as a gifted songwriter as well; in February, the similarly titled album was released and became an instant best-seller. Although the songs were mostly more soft contemporary arrangements, like most of what was being traditionally released in Hong Kong, it also had a few dance songs and two versions of the title track: Wong’s Mandarin song, and the other with Cantonese lyrics by Chen Shao Qi (the Mandarin version is by far the more popular one)

Faith Hill Biography

Faith Hill (Audrey Faith Perry) was born on Sept. 21, 1967, in Jackson, Miss. Adopted at only a week old, she grew up in the small town of Star. She sang in church growing up and moved to Nashville at 19 to pursue a country music career. Hill's first Music City job was selling T-shirts at Fan Fair. She later landed an office job with singer-songwriter Gary Morris' Nashville company. Morris heard her singing along with the radio and asked her to perform on demo tapes. Hill's first professional gig was singing backup for songwriter-musician Gary Burr, who would later become her co-producer. She was discovered by a Warner Bros. executive while singing with Burr at Nashville's famed Bluebird Cafe.

Warner Bros. Nashville released Hill's debut album, Take Me as I Am, in 1993. She made country music history in January 1994 when her debut single "Wild One" held the No. 1 position for four consecutive weeks on Billboard's country singles chart. Hill was the first female country singer to accomplish the feat with a debut single since Connie Smith's "Once a Day" in 1964. The album was eventually certified triple-platinum.

The title track from 1995's album It Matters to Me gave Hill her third chart-topping hit and the album went on to sell 4 million copies. Tim McGraw and Hill married shortly after teaming up for the Spontaneous Combustion tour in 1996. Her first duet with McGraw, "It's Your Love," lodged itself at No. 1 for six weeks and brought Hill's first CMA award, for 1997 vocal event. It remained No. 1 for six weeks.

Hill's 1998 album Faith produced the crossover hit "This Kiss," which went to No. 1 on Billboard's country singles chart and peaked at No. 7 on Billboard's Hot 100 pop chart. The video for "This Kiss" earned a 1998 CMA award. On the strength of additional singles like "Let Me Let Go" and "Just to Hear You Say That You Love Me" (another McGraw duet), Faith sold more than 6 million copies.

Her 1999 album Breathe debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Top 200 and country albums charts and sold more than 8 million copies. The title track stayed at No. 1 for six weeks and reached the top of the adult contemporary and Top 40 charts as well. The steamy music video, in which she rolls around under a white bed sheet, gained Hill attention outside the world of country.

She earned three Grammy awards in 2000 -- for female country vocal performance, best country album and for country collaboration with vocals, for the McGraw duet, "Let's Make Love." The couple embarked on the co-headlining Soul 2 Soul tour in 2000. The outing raked in $49.6 million, making it the top country tour of the year. Hill was named female vocalist of the year at the CMA Awards in 2000.

Cry, her 2002 album, sold 2 million copies, and she filmed an NBC-TV Thanksgiving special to promote it. The title track won a 2003 Grammy for best female country vocal performance. She landed a supporting role in The Stepford Wives film in 2004 (aside Nicole Kidman and Bette Midler).

Hill released the album Fireflies in 2005, which rejuvenated her career. The first single, "Mississippi Girl," quickly reached No. 1 and she and McGraw launched the Soul2Soul2 Tour in 2006, which sold more than a million tickets. They also scored another hit duet, "Like We Never Loved at All."

Hill has performed at several high-profile events, including Super Bowl XXXIV, the 1996 Summer Olympics, VH1 Divas Live 2000 and the 2000 Academy Awards, where she stepped in at the last minute for an ailing Whitney Houston. Her image has graced the covers of countless national magazines, including People, US Weekly, Glamour, TV Guide, Redbook, Country Music and Country Weekly. She also has landed lucrative endorsements with CoverGirl, Pepsi and ALLTEL.

The Faith Hill Family Literacy Project, designed to help combat illiteracy worldwide, launched in 1996. Hill's concern for family literacy is a result of her own family's firsthand experience with the issue. Her father, one of 14 children, never learned to read after being forced to quit school in order to help support his family. Hill's dream is that "someday every person will be able to read."
