Catherine Oxenberg Biography

Although a native New Yorker, Catherine spent some of her most formative years in London, where her mother still lives. She is the daughter of the business man Howard Oxenberg (a New York City dress manufacturer) and Princess Elizabeth of Yugoslavia and Serbia (born in Belgrade, Serbia, in 1936). Catherine's sister Christina Oxenberg (born 1962), is a writer, and they also have a younger half-brother, Nicholas Balfour (born 1970).

Catherine's parents split up when she was six and divorced in 1969, and Princess Elizabeth married the English banker Neil Balfour (born in Peru in 1934) the same year, moving with him to England. From the age of eight, Catherine lived and went to schools there, then in 1977, when she was sixteen, her mother and step-father separated and were divorced. In the mean time, Catherine had moved back to the U.S. to go to St Paul's School, Concord, New Hampshire, a smart prep school. She graduated from St Paul's in 1979 summa cum laude and went on to Harvard. She transferred to Columbia, where she read psychology, philosophy and mythology. While at Columbia, Catherine became a successful fashion model, before trying her hand at acting. Her first acting coach was Richard Burton, who was engaged to her mother at the time. Princess Elizabeth broke up with Burton and married thirdly Dr Manuel Ulloa y Elias, a former prime minister of Peru.

In 1981, Catherine turned down an offer of marriage from her cousin Prince Andrew, second son of Queen Elizabeth II. She has been married twice, first to the film producer Robert Evans (they were married and divorced in ten days in July 1998), then to Casper van Dien (8 May 1999).

Catherine has three daughters, India Riven Oxenberg, born in India on June 7th, 1991, Maya van Dien, born in Los Angeles on September 20th, 2001, and Celeste Alma van Dien, born October 3rd, 2003.

From 1989 to 1990 she dated U.S. Senator John Kerry.

Catherine is a second cousin of the Prince of Wales and of Queen Sophie of Spain. Through her grandparents, Prince Paul, Regent of Yugoslavia from 1934 to 1941, and Princess Olga of Greece and Denmark, Catherine is descended from dozens of crowned heads, including kings and queens of Greece, Scandinavia, and England and Russian Tsars. Indeed, her parents are said to have named their eldest daughter after her five-times-great-grandmother Catherine the Great, Empress of all the Russias (1729-96).

Charlie Yeung Biography

Charlie Yeung is one of the most sort after Hong Kong actresses at the moment, after making a huge comeback in 2004 from her retirement since 1997.

Charlie Yeung was first notice in a TV commercial alongside Aaron Kwok. Her charming appearance had led to several music videos appearances before inking a recording deal with EMI (Hong Kong).

Charlie Yeung released her debut album in 1992 and was gaining rapid popularity. Charlie then made her movie debut in Future Cops before landing her breakthrough role in The Lovers (1994).

Charlie Yeung was one of the most popular artists back then; her singing career didn’t prosper, but her acting career was ever booming.

Charlie Yeung then surprised many of her fans in 1997 with her decision to quit the entertainment arena to start an image consultant business in Malaysia with her Singaporean boyfriend.

Charlie’s relationship lasted for some 7 years, ended in 2004. She also ended her image consulting business and went back to Hong Kong to make a comeback to the entertainment world.

Charlie’s comeback was warmly welcomed as she landed a leading role in Jackie Chan’s New Police Story in 2004; followed by director Tsui Hark’s Seven Swords in 2005.

Charlie Yeung also starred alongside Andy Lau in All About Love (2005) and with Aaron Kwok in the award winning After This Our Exile (2006).

Christy Chung Biography

Christy Chung (1970) is an ethnically Chinese-Vietnamese actress, born in Montreal. She grew up in Brossard, Quebec, a suburb of Montreal, with French and Vietnamese as mother-tongues. She later learned English, Mandarin and Cantonese.

While studying for a career in the tourism industry at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), she entered and won the Miss Chinese Montreal contest in 1992. She then went to Hong Kong (her first trip away from home) to participate in the Miss Chinese International pageant in January 1993, which she won. This opened doors for her to launch her acting career there, despite not speaking a word of Cantonese at the time, and despite her extremely limited acting experience (an uncredited ten-second non-speaking role as a gum-chewing prostitute in Denys Arcand's Love and Human Remains). She had to choose between acting in Hong Kong and becoming the weather-forecast presenter at Société Radio-Canada, the French-language government television network in Canada.

A role in The Bride with White Hair 2 brought her instant recognition, and she became a well-known star in Chinese-language popular culture, acting in a large number of films including some films starring Stephen Chow, as well as The Bodyguard from Beijing starring Jet Li. She was married for a time to Glen Ross, and gave birth to daughter (Yasmine) in Montreal in the middle of the 1998 Ice Storm.

Becoming a mother temporarily had a negative effect on her career because of a stereotypical impression that a mother could not function as a sex symbol, but her career recovered in 2000. More recently, she had roles in Samsara and Jackie Chan's movie The Medallion. She added Thai to her language repertoire when she starred in 2001 film Jan Dara . Singapore FHM magazine voted her the Sexiest Woman in Asia in 2000.

Despite her success, she remains mostly unknown in Quebec, where she was born and grew up, because she has done most of her film work in Cantonese.

Cybil Shepherd Biography

Youth

Shepherd was born in Memphis, Tennessee to William Jennings Shepherd and Patty Shobe. Named after her grandfather Cy and her father Bill, Shepherd won the 1966 "Miss Teenage Memphis" contest at age 16, and the 1968 "Model of the Year" contest at age 18, making her a fashion icon of the 1960s, resulting in fashion modeling work through high school and after.

Career

She quickly made a name for herself as a curvy 'real woman', which was a departure from the trend at the time of Twiggy-type waifs. This led to regular work as a magazine cover girl, and according to Shepherd's autobiography, it was a 1970 Glamour magazine cover that caught the eye of film director Peter Bogdanovich. His then-wife Polly Platt, however claimed, that it was she who upon seeing the cover in a check-out line in a Ralphs grocery store in southern California, said "That's Jacy",[1] referring to the role Bogdanovich was casting - and ultimately offered to Shepherd - in The Last Picture Show (1971). Shepherd's role as the sexual ingenue would prove to be one of the most explosive and promising debuts of any film actress.

During the filming, the then 21-year-old was required to film a nude scene in a pool. Actual film shots from that nude scene appeared in Playboy magazine without Shepherd's consent. She sued and ultimately she and Playboy reached an out-of-court settlement, setting a precedent regarding public figures.

Also during the filming of The Last Picture Show, Shepherd began an affair with Bogdanovich that would last on and off for eight years. In her autobiography, she also acknowledged that she had affairs with her co-star Jeff Bridges, the screenwriter Larry McMurtry, and with location manager Frank Marshall, whom she gives the pseudonym of "Producer."

Personal life

In her autobiography, [3] she revealed that in 1978, she called her mother, crying, unhappy with the way her life and career were going, to which her mother replied, "Cybill, come home." She went home to Memphis, where she met and began dating local auto-parts dealer and nightclub entertainer David M. Ford. She became pregnant and they married that year. Their daughter Clementine Ford was born in 1979, but the marriage ended in divorce in 1982.

In 1987, she became pregnant by chiropractor Bruce Oppenheim and married him, giving birth to twins Zack and Ariel Shepherd-Oppenheim during the fourth season of Moonlighting. They were divorced in 1990.

She was engaged to musician Robert Martin and lived with him from 1994-1998. In her autobiography, [3] she gave him the pseudoynm "Howard Roark" and claimed that he ended the relationship during the couples' therapy session.

In 2002 Shepherd was diagnosed and successfully treated for melanoma which presented itself on her back. Since this time Shepherd has become an advocate for skin cancer awareness and sun safety practices.

Sexualilty

Shepherd has revealed her sexual curiosity and desire in various interviews about having a physical relationship with a woman.

In 2006, in an interview about The L Word she said more than once that she was "turned on" by the woman-woman sex scenes :

"If you look at what we know about men, women and our sexuality, a great majority of people are bisexual. So what's wrong with that?" [4].

She also said in an interview :

"I have wondered about it (lesbianism)... At various times in my life I wanted to be open to the possibility of having a woman as a lover. I am not actively pursuing it, but it is not over yet." [5]

She has confessed to having a longtime crush on Salma Hayek and admits she has been smitten with Hayek's looks for years. She said,

"I've fantasized about her for years." [6]
