She is not even 30 and she has almost as many awards as her age represents.
Gigi Lai, or Lai Chi as she is known in other parts of the world, is a multi-award winning actress from Hong Kong who has been identified as one of the brightest talents in her field since the earliest years in her career which began at the age of 14. Her list of awards, the latest being one she received in 2007, honor her for everything from being the most popular female artist to being the best dressed.
Her 2004 Most Popular Actress Award for her role as a concubine in the series War and Beauty made her extremely popular with Hong Kong and Mainland China fans as well as some overseas countries.
She was not always an actress though.
In the early years of her career, she started out as a singer and released six albums, four in Cantonese and two in Mandarin, during the 1990s. Her favorite singers that influenced her records were Madonna and the band Bananarama.
The sister to a younger brother and devoted daughter has always been well known to her fans for her stunning image. Reports are now, however, that she is more concerned with finding challenging acting roles than simply looking beautiful on screen.
Lai is said to be currently under contract with the TVB television channel in her native country. Her most recent films released were Jewel's Splendor and The Ultimate Crime Fighter.
